It's been a while, so this is going to be a long one. Apologies for my absence, but between a move and increased responsibilities at work, this blog fell by the wayside for a while.

Lately I've been working on quite a few projects, and have a lot of fun updates, including an expansion to my word bearers, a holy grail miniature of mine, pictures from recent battles, and a new army for a new system.

I feel like I've been very unfocused lately hobby-wise, but I'm not entirely sure that's a bad thing. I've been experimenting a lot with new techniques, improving my layering and undercoating abilities, and generally just having fun with the hobby. I'm hoping to get some kind of campaign going soon to hopefully focus my efforts a bit, but I'm honestly not in a huge hurry.

Recent Games

I'm going to start with pictures from recent games of mine with my long-time play group. I've really been enjoying playing my eldar corsair list and recently received an additional squad of skyreavers from Samuel as a housewarming gift. I'm currently debating between just building them as a third squad of skyreavers or making them into some kind of swooping hawk proxy unit.

These pics are from a home game against my wonderful girlfriend Tara's Sisters of Battle (Detailed in the Enemies section of the Lore page). The game was unfortunately ended early by an enormous feline causing a hivequake.

Grenadier Miniatures Undead War Mammoth

I recently came across a holy grail miniature of mine. I have a small collection of old lead grenadier miniatures including some of their comedy lords line, but the Undead War mammoth has long been a favorite of mine. While out at a fair with my girlfriend I came across one still in its original shrink wrap and immediately jumped on the opportunity to purchase it, especially as it was priced at $50.

I painted the mammoth up to look like it had been fossilized before being raised from the dead and I'm very happy with the final result.

Wargames Atlantic's The Damned

I have been waiting for these models in plastic forever and ended up grabbing the army box and smashing it together with a couple of random guard units I had laying around in the bits box, including a sentinel. I absolutely adore these minis, they strike a perfect balance of looking good, but not being so overly detailed as to be annoying to paint, which is something that I personally think is one of Wargames Atlantic's strongest qualities. I painted them to be renegade guard for 40k, with the colorscheme based on the traitor guard in the old eye of terror supplement. I may end up revisiting the basing for these guys as I think it's missing something. I'm going to try to implement a comment section so if that's up and working feel free to give your thoughts.

Pestigors

The pestigor project is ongoing, but it has changed systems three times during that period, with me finally settling on playing The Old World. Tara and Hunter both are interested in starting with Mordheim and working our way up to full armies. Tara will be playing Bretonnia and Hunter will be playing Wood Elves so that we can run a Bretonnia-focused campaign. This project started with a kitbashed beastlord, detailed below and finally based on a classic square base. I'm looking forward to trying out a new system to mix things up. I've been running out of steam for 40k for a while now.

I have also painted the foulhoof model from Age of Sigmar and I'm currently working on a unit of Pestigors to serve as Bestigor proxies. With any luck the next arcane journal might actually let me mark my beastmen with the mark of nurgle rather than chaos undivided.

Future Plans

As mentioned earlier, I'm going to try to implement a comment section so it feels less like I'm talking to myself. I'd love to find a netring as well if possible. Coming up expect more pestigors, terrain and some space marines since I somehow ended up getting half of the Armageddon box. See you all later!
